We are fortunate to have a newsletter in Regina.

The Regina OA Newsletter publishes four times a year. The newsletter includes

information from World Serice, Region One and Regina, Saskatchewan. Any OA

member may submit articles or poems they have written sharing their stories

of experience, strength and hope. We also need contributions of OA approved

material such as passages from from the big book, OA pamphlets and other OA

literature that have special meaning to you and you wish to share.

The purpose of this Newsletter is to:

  1. Keep OA members informed

  2. Give OA members some inspiration in their Recovery

  3. PLUS give members an opportunity to express themselves

about their recovery from Compulsive Eating

For more information, to contribute or subscribe Please Email Alana

These stories are from members who have submitted their experience, strength and hope to the Local OA Newsletter over the past several years.

They are posted on these pages in order to share this with other members in recovery. Below are a couple of examples of group contributions.

RECOVERY ROSTER

I know I'm in recovery because :

* I abstain from my trigger foods and have maintained my abstinence & weight loss for 51/2 yrs.

* I stop eating when my body had enough. I've quit weighing myself all the time.

* I go to social functions for the people who'll be there, not the huge amounts of food.

* I don't make excuses to get out of meetings. I go whether I want to or not.

* I take time to write, make phone calls, talk to my sponsor, and read literature, no matter how much I=d rather be doing something else.

* When someone hurts me, I don't hold a grudge. I pray, let go and let God.

* I recognize my character defects and am aware of how they hurt me and other people.

* I set healthy boundaries. I don't let people use me as a doormat, I don't build walls that isolate me.

* I stay out of other peoples business and let them run their own lives.

* Instead of fixing people I try simply to listen to them, sharing experience, strength and hope.

* I eliminate guilt and shame from my life. I let go of the past.

* I don't beat myself up when I make a choice that=s not in my best interest; I learn from experience.

* I've stopped being a victim and started being a survivor.

* I accept being a grown-up and take responsibility for changing my actions and attitudes.

* I don't rely on anyone to make my happy, but realize that happiness comes from accepting God=s will in my life. From page 102-103 OA - Abstinence Book

My Favorite Tool

1- Meetings. - I hear wonderful things and feel part of a great fellowship in recovery.

2- Meetings - They make me aware and help keep me on track.

3- Telephone - You share experience, get encouragement and talk to someone each day

about a food plan.

4- Plan of Eating - 3 meals a day, no snack in between. Feel better, look better, lean and serene. A sugar free lifestyle, cut out the caffeine. I'm feelin' better than I'd ever dreamed.

5- Meetings - They keep me connected to OA and the program. I always hear something

that need to hear.

6- Meetings - They give me an opportunity to talk about my eating addiction openly with people who understand. They keep me out of my isolation.

The Tool That has Made the Most Difference in My Program.

1- Telephone - Daily calls and calling in my food plan makes me try harder.

2- Sponsorship - Partners in Recovery They care and I know it works.

3- Plan of Eating - Even a simple Plan of Eating is greatly beneficial. Getting more specific rather than more general is a worthwhile endeavor.

4- Telephone - Helps me to be able to share life's ups and downs and in betweens with caring folks that understand me.

5- Literature - Has opened my world up to see how others have changed their lives in recovery.

I can read steps, traditions, tool, experience, strength and hope anywhere.

6- Sponsorship - She knows, I want to quit but encourages me to keep trying and to keep coming to meetings

7- Sponsorship - Having a sponsor has helped me to be brutally honest to another human being. It has kept me from isolating again and keeps me connected to the program.

The Tool I Wish I Used More in My Program

1- Plan of Eating - I wish I was able to follow my food plan, I give up to easily on myself and God.

2- Writing - Writing helps me to clarify my thoughts and let go of issues instead of running them around in my head forever.

3- Sponsorship - I do not have a sponsor and wonder if a sponsor would help my abstinence.

4- Literature - I love reading the OA newsletter and Lifeline but rarely the Big Book or For Today. I am not a disciplined OA reader but I would like to read more interesting articles.

5- Telephone - I need to reach out to other OA members. I need the direct contact, I hope it will strengthen my program and keep me out of isolation.

Thanks to the Friday Nite Tooltime OA Group - for the writing!
